Good evening, readers!
Well, I'm supposed to be babysitting right now. There's a sentence you won't hear from me very often. Why? Because I'm about as terrible with kids as you can get. I was all set to babysit Bill's nephew with him tonight, until I was informed that it involved an overnight stay. Which would be fine, except I MUST go to my normal Saturday morning workouts if I want any chance of having a good weigh-in tomorrow. So here I am, enjoying this king-sized bed all to myself :)
Today was a much better day than yesterday! Thank you to everyone who sent me reminders to actually eat lunch today, it definitely worked! It may not have happened until 2pm or so, but I ate a turkey sandwich, yogurt, fruit cup, and Fiber One bar. It kind of worked out that I didn't eat lunch yesterday, because then I didn't have to pack lunch for today. I was so incredibly tired this morning that I probably would have skipped making myself a lunch had it not already been done. Poor Bill, I was too tired to make him a lunch at any rate. But at least he has the option of going out, or eating his leftover Chinese food.
I felt like I had another very productive day at work. I am starting my new promotion on Monday (even though I've already been doing that job for half days this week)! I'm really excited and surprisingly not nervous or apprehensive. I just want to get in there and get it done! It was actually a little sad to pack up all my stuff from the pharmacy, though. Even though I'm just moving down the hall I know I won't get to talk to my favorite coworkers nearly as much. But you wouldn't believe how productive I can be when I'm not chatting away.
After work Bill and I had our normal date night at Culver's, just a little bit earlier than normal. We didn't go work out because Bill had to go babysit. I had grandiose aspirations to go to the gym after dinner, but I didn't. I could make excuses, like I'm tired or full, but in reality I just didn't want to. I did do lots of exercise in my living room while watching TV, though. I did squats and lunges, tricep dips and extensions, bicep curls, sit-ups and planks, some shoulder work, and some push-ups. Oh, and lots of stretching at the end! Seriously, if you're just sitting there watching TV, grab some 5 lb weights and start lifting! The time goes by super fast and it has to be better than just sitting!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 14200
Calories burned: 3020
Calories consumed: 1200
Today was a perfect day. I didn't go to the gym, but I walked a lot, exercised at home, and stuck to my diet perfectly. I'm tired from working so hard, but I feel like I've accomplished a lot and I am totally ready for my new job on Monday!
Until tomorrow, readers!

5K!
Good evening, readers!
No, the title of this post does not refer to 5,000 dollars like I wish it did. It refers to the "race" we "ran" today. Quotations necessary.
Before we get to the quotation situation, I must admit something: I'm in trouble. With food. Here's what happened today:
3am - Wake up, can't fall back asleep.
4:30am - Finally get out of bed and go to gym.
5:30am - Lift weights for an hour.
6:30am - Go to work. Eat banana and drink 24oz of water in car.
7:30am - Begin work. Work straight for 10 hours. Eat only 2 mini candy bars during this time.
5:30pm - Run 5k.
7pm - Eat Chinese food. And a lot of it.
As you can see, this is NOT GOOD. And I need to be responsible for that. Sure, work is busy, but I need to put myself and my needs first. But if anyone out there wants to remind me to eat something around lunchtime, that would probably be useful.
So that's the pretty quick outline of my day. I don't know what happened this morning, but I just could not get back to sleep. I'm definitely looking forward to trying again tonight. Although I felt like I had tons of energy until about... 2 o'clock. I actually did get that "2 o'clock feeling" and probably just needed a 5 Hour Energy or something.
I made it through work, but then I had to go to 3M and run a 5K with Bill and our friend Jenn. I'll be honest, though; we didn't run hardly at all. I'd say we ran 20-25% of the course. It's really okay with me. My only thought was that I knew that the sooner we finished the sooner we could eat. Jenn and I have to be the only people who talk about what they're going to eat after a run while we're running. We finished in about 45 minutes, which is pretty good considering.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 22,000
Calories burned:3650
Calories consumed: ?? Who knows what's in that Chinese food anyway? I had the world's largest container of egg drop soup and a couple egg rolls. It doesn't sound like much, but I'm so full I want to burst!
So here's what we learned today:
I need to remember to eat regularly during the day, but could always use a reminder!
I'm not feeling good about this week's weigh-in, and it's only Thursday!
Well, we can always try to do better tomorrow.
Until then, readers.

Starvation Mode
Good evening, readers!
I'm pretty sure both my mind and my body are in starvation mode right now. My brain is barely functioning, but in a mildly entertaining kind of way. I did finally finish writing my thank-you notes, but I realized it was probably going downhill when I had to google how to spell "annulment." Don't ask.
This morning was another 5:30 am BodyPump day. Due to all the excitement this weekend I wasn't able to do any weightlifting on Saturday like normal. That means the last time I lifted was last Thursday. All of this equates to pain. My arms were quivering during the tricep track, although my legs are feeling pretty good. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.
After BodyPump I rushed off to work to get there as early as possible. There's so much going on at work that I feel like I need 12 hours to do my 8 hour job. I'm training at my new position, plus I'm trying to get the pharmacy ready for me to leave (even though I'm literally just moving down the hallway). It's kind of exhausting, really.
I can tell it's starting to wear on me, because today I forgot to eat anything until noon. Then I had a scone and some Starbust. Oh and a couple pretzels. But that's all I had time for/could manage to grab until I was whisked off to my next task.
Since I got to work early, I also got to leave a bit early. I went right to the gym, and I spent some time on my new favorite apparatus, the horizontal elliptical. At least that's what I call it. Inner Thigh Blaster might be a better name. Anyway, I was on the elliptical and watching a show on my phone and the movement just kept getting more difficult. During the 25 or so minutes I was on the machine it would keep increasing in intensity and I would have to manually adjust it back down. It was getting kind of annoying.
It wasn't until I got off the machine that I realized there was a button on the handle that also increased or decreased the intensity, right where I happened to be placing my hand. Genius.
I got off the machine and went to Zumba. That went slightly better.
When I got home I was absolutely starving, and luckily Bill offered to make dinner. He made pasta with red sauce, and while it's not the healthiest thing in the world I was so hungry that I really didn't care. I scarfed that pasta down in record time. And then my body probably stored it all as fat since I hadn't eaten anything else the rest of the day. Boo starvation mode. Hopefully I did enough exercise to burn it all off!
Today's stats:
Steps taken:22000
Calories burned: 3600
Calories consumed: 1600
Now I think the only thing my starving brain and body are craving is sleep.
Until tomorrow, readers.

Thank You!
Good evening, readers!
Wow did I just get distracted! I'm sitting here writing my thank-you notes for my shower gifts at my makeshift desk/ottoman with football in the background (where not a single minute of defense has been played), and then I got an email from the knot.com. Every week I get an email with the subject, "Kayti, 208 days to go! Here's what to do this week!" Obviously the days change, but you get the picture.
I kind of like it because it really is helpful for remembering to do everything. I've finished all of the September things and most of the October things, but I'm not as ahead of schedule as I used to be. I'd better get on that!
Anyway, I've set up thank-you note writing central in our living room.
Yeah, that's world's largest ottoman we have there. But it's fabulous for projects like this. Also, on a more random note, I'm sitting here eating frozen grapes and I have half a mind to turn on that fireplace you see in the background. I love frozen grapes, but maybe I should restrict myself to having them only in the summer.
Well, it's back to the grind after the world's busiest weekend. Although I think I'm about to have world's busiest week. I got a promotion last week, and the girl I replaced had her last day on Friday. But I'm still trying to wrap things up in my old position, so there's a backup doing my new job and I'm trying to go back and forth to keep everyone happy. It's exhausting! And I'm working like 9 hours a day plus working on all my breaks, but I really want to be successful. As Grandpa Flynn would say, "The world owes you a living, but you have to work to collect it." I think I'm earning it this week, Grandpa.
I didn't eat as well as I should have today. There were treats at work, although I was more or less too busy to eat them. I did have a Special K bar (not the healthy kind, you might know them as peanut butter Krispies) and a few Starburst. But I logged everything and my calorie count is... acceptable.
Today's stats:
Steps taken:16000 (Thank you Zumba!)
Calories burned: 3100
Calories consumed: 1600
So it's not too bad. I need to get this under control though, if I want to keep on track and be down 45 lbs by New Year's. It's only 11 more pounds, but I can't afford to slip up!
Well, these thank-you's won't write themselves!
Until tomorrow, readers.

Bridal Shower!
Good evening, readers!
Hold your hats for a long post, it's going to be a good one! Yesterday I had the busiest day I've had in a long time, and by the end of it I fell asleep before I had a chance to write a post. Even if I had written one, it probably would have been terrible, so this is much better.
Saturday morning I awoke at my parent's house in Superior. My mom and I took a long walk around the old neighborhood, and in true Superior fashion ran into this little political statement:
So that was hysterical.
When we got home we got a text from the hairdresser, Holly, who is going to do our hair (mine, mom's, and bridesmaids) for the wedding. She was doing wedding updos for her friend's wedding, and they very nicely let us intrude for a few minutes to see their hair. It was gorgeous, so I'm happy to have Holly traveling down for us.
Random thought: I forgot to put in my blog from Friday that our engagement announcement was in the Superior Daily Telegram on Friday! I took a picture, but I also included a link. Chip and Sam also had their wedding announcement in the paper at the same time.
http://www.superiortelegram.com/community/4120888-flynn-emerson
I know it's our engagement announcement, but if you took away the text and just looked at the photo, you might mistake it for a FitBit advertisement :)
After that we all got ready and it was time for my very first bridal shower! I feel like almost everyone that we invited came, which was really nice. It was so good to see everyone, and Sam and Maddie put together some really fun games. I didn't do as well at the Newlywed game as I should have, but that's probably because when Bill was asked, "What one word would you use to describe Kayti?" he said punctual. Punctual! I mean it's true, but couldn't he have said something cuter or more romantic? Like awesome/amazing/fabulous/fantastic... I have adjectives for days, but leave it to an engineer to say punctual. We had so much fun, though!
My mom and Glo and I'm sure many others put in a ton of work for that shower, and I really appreciate it! It was "English tea" themed, so we had tea and finger sandwiches and scones. I even had that slice of ice cream cake I talked about! Glo also got us the world's most adorable cookies, they're too adorable to eat even!
Once the shower wound down, we packed up all the gifts (thank you everyone! Formal thank-you notes forthcoming), along with our luggage, and headed back to the cities. We made pretty good time, and after dropping of Sam and Maddie I made it home at about 6:30. I changed quickly and then we headed over to Rob and Laura's house for Rob's 40th birthday party! Luckily my fiancee is fabulous and brought me a Subway sandwich, otherwise I might have starved to death.
Our birthday festivities consisted of everyone's favorite activity... Party Bus! We hopped on the bus and drove around the cities, stopping at 3 or 4 breweries (I honestly can't remember). We blasted music on the bus, had a few beers, and made some new friends. It was super fun! I even stole someone's hat:
Whoops.
When we finally got home about 1am I stayed awake just long enough to take off my makeup and put on pajamas before crashing. Which is why I didn't post yesterday. I hope you understand :) I don't know how many calories I consumed yesterday, and I really don't want to know. It was probably all good until the beer, I would guess. I was pretty active, so that part was good.
Today was a much calmer day. I got up at about 9:30 and went to BodyStep at 10:30. I hadn't been to the class in about a month, mostly because it's the same time as church. But it was the instructor's last day, so I felt the need to go. Plus sweating out the toxins is the best way to avoid a hangover*
*I am not a doctor, and that's probably not true.
After BodyPump I picked up Bill and we did a quick grocery shopping trip and grabbed some Chipotle to eat during football. We watched both of our teams win, and then I took a nap. In the afternoon I spent some time organizing and deciding what to do with all the gifts we received on Saturday. I'm happy that we have lots of stuff to hang on our (mostly) bare walls now!
We went for a walk before dinner since it wasn't raining, and then Bill grilled chicken and potatoes. I'm trying to detox from yesterday's alcohol and sweets, and hopefully it's working.
Today's stats -
Steps taken: 13000
Calories burned: 2700
Calories consumed: About 1400
I think I've burned more calories than that, since I killed it at BodyStep. I had to have burned a zillion calories. But it's looking good for today! Hopefully I can continue to lose some weight this week, even though I had a "cheat day" more or less on Saturday.
And now I'm off to write all those thank you notes!
Until tomorrow, readers!

Weigh In: Week 31
Good evening, readers!
Well, I must start by saying that I didn't lose any weight this week. My weight has remained the same, and I'm ok with that. Not thrilled, but okay. I think I may be at the beginning of a plateau and will need to work to fix that.
Anyway, today was filled with some pretty awesome adventures that are sure to delight. This morning I got up and ran 4k (a bit over 2 miles) and did some chore-type activities until Maddie got out of bed. I wish I could sleep in (getting up at 6:30 actually felt like sleeping in).
We got ready and went over to the florist, where we put a deposit down for the wedding flowers. Afterward we had lunch at Zuppa's, a new fast-casual restaurant in Woodbury that just serves soup, salad, and sandwiches.
We then visited the Rosedale mall, where we perused the clothing stores to kill time. I ended up buying a gorgeous dress to wear for the rehearsal dinner, but now I cannot gain an ounce if I want it to fit right. Maddie bought a dress to wear to the shower tomorrow, so it was a pretty successful shopping trip.
We picked Sam up from work a little before 3, and then we were on our way to Superior! For about 20 minutes, until I ran over what I thought was a piece of tire rubber. We're not sure exactly how it happened, but we ended up on the side of the highway with a flat tire. No fun.
I called AAA, but in the meantime Sam thought we might be able to change the tire ourselves since we had a donut and all the tools in the trunk of my car. I figured it couldn't hurt, so we googled up some instructions on how to change a tire and took a crack at it. Results?
Darn right we got that donut on like the pros that we are!
Luckily we were incredibly close to a tire place, where they tested my tire and were able to fix it with just a patch, and it was free! Sure, it's no fun to have a flat tire, but this was actually not the worst experience. It was more gratifying than anything, figuring it out all by ourselves (and google, and a Youtube video on how to use a scissor jack).
On a side note, how lucky is it that the tire store was right next to a Dairy Queen? And the tire place had coupons for Dairy Queen?
Actually, with all the excitement I still managed to eat pretty well. I snuck a few fries off Maddie's plate at dinner, but I was otherwise very good.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 13400
Calories burned: 3100
Calories consumed: about 1300
Tomorrow's the big day: my first bridal shower! I'm excited, but I need to do my best to exercise my willpower and not go crazy on the ice cream cake!
Until then, readers.

7 months to go!
Good evening, readers!
Tonight is definitely going to be a short and sweet one, but it is going to be full of awesomeness, I promise!
Awesome thing number 1: We are getting married 7 months from today! Sometimes that sounds so close, and sometimes it sounds so far away! It's creeping up, though, but I think we're pretty prepared.
Awesome thing number 2: My cousin Maddie is here! Picture forthcoming. When I remember to take a picture. I picked her up from the airport tonight and we went out to dinner. Tomorrow we're picking up Sam and driving up to Superior for my bridal shower on Saturday!
Awesome thing number 3: Remember a couple weeks ago, when I teased that something exciting may be happening at work? Well now it's official... I got a promotion! I'm working in the same building and doing the same job, just on a larger scale (I'll be buying all the drugs and medical supplies for the entire Veterinary Hospital instead of just the pharmacy within the hospital.) My first official day is October 3rd, and I'm very excited!
Sure, a few not-so-awesome things happened today, too, but they're completely overshadowed by all the awesomeness! Like this morning I went to BodyPump, but I had to leave early to get to work earlier than normal to start training for my new position. I trained until noon, when I finally had my first food for the day. I ate at my desk in the pharmacy to catch up on all the work I still have to do for that job. But it's worth it because I got a promotion! So who cares about all that other stuff?
I'm a bit concerned about my weigh-in this week. I am planning on doing it tomorrow morning after a workout, but I don't think it's going to end well. After not eating until noon today, I ate my lunch and had a couple mini Twix bars as a snack. I had a granola bar in the car, and then we went to the Tavern where I had a salad. It all sounds okay, right? Well then Bill* decided to order apple crisp for dessert, and I was done for. I didn't eat terribly this week, but I didn't eat that great. So I'm concerned. But I really want to lose a pound, because I feel like if I do that I can reward myself with a piece of ice cream cake at my shower on Saturday!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 16400
Calories burned: 3250
Calories consumed: About 1200 until that stupid apple crisp.
*Disclaimer: It is NOT Bill's fault that I ate some of his apple crisp. I should have exercised more willpower. I'm just going to complain about it now.
In an attempt to be positive: I am going to lose 1 lb tomorrow! It will just be awesomeness on top of awesomeness!
And I'm sure tomorrow will be even more awesome than today!
Until tomorrow, readers.

I'm working in the same building and doing the same job, just on a larger scale (I'll be buying all the drugs and medical supplies for the entire Veterinary Hospital instead of just the pharmacy within the hospital.) Do It Anyway
Good evening, readers!
Today was one of those days that was just tough. Sure, getting out of bed at 5am is always a bit grumble-inducing, but today I seriously considered not going to my normal 5:30 am BodyPump class. The only thing that helped me drag my butt out of bed was thinking that 1) I'd be mad at myself for not going, and 2) I'd be letting all of you down!
So I got up, and I went. And it was actually really good. I'm hoping some progress is being made on my arms. I can definitely lift more during biceps, triceps, and pecs. So it's got to be doing something. So I keep going. Even though it's early.
After BodyPump I went to work, and it was crazy. I have to say I was probably the most efficient employee in that hospital today, because I was basically doing the work of two people the entire day. I'm a little frustrated, because I'm supposed to be training at a new position and there has been no time allotted. And I refuse to fail. Which just means working my butt off later when there is time.
Oh hey, Bill just got home! He's been working really late on this new project that's on a very short time frame. So the two of us have basically been running ourselves ragged on weekdays and trying to catch up on weekends. I'm already looking forward to this weekend, and it's only Tuesday!
After work I went to Zumba. Again, I really didn't want to. I had already hit my step goal for the day, and I was just dead on my feet. Luckily, my coworker Aja reminded me, "Think how good you'll feel when it's over." And of course, she was right. So I went, and I had fun, and now I'm home eating dinner and I'm happy that I did all those workouts that I thought I didn't really want to do in the first place.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 20,000
Calories burned: 3400
Calories consumed: 1200
I have to be honest, I didn't eat super great today. I helped myself to a couple spring rolls at work, so I compensated by having soup and grapes for dinner. Now I'm thinking I could use a protein bar or something, since I burned my calories than normal. I can probably eat a few more calories than normal, right?
Well, I'm off to cook dinner for Bill before he crashes!
Until tomorrow, readers.

Food Rewards?
Good evening, readers!
Just another super-extra busy Monday in the books. I got to work this morning and it was constant "go-go-go". Every time I looked at the clock I was shocked that so much time had passed. I must even admit... at one point I wished time would slow down so I could get more work done. Don't tell my boss.
After work was Monday night Zumba. It really is the best way to start out your week. If you don't believe me, just try it! You'll feel awesome afterward.
When I finally got home around 7:30, Bill had also just gotten home from a long day. I threw together a quick dinner of chicken, rice, and peas, did the dishes, packed lunches for tomorrow, packed my gym bag, and took a shower. AFTER I did all that did I finally actually eat the dinner I had prepared.
Which leads me to wonder... why is it that food rewards are looked at as the devil while you're dieting? I've been reading up on it a little bit, and it's basically because food rewards undermine your goal of eating healthy. But do they really?
For example, tonight I looked at finally eating my super healthy dinner as my reward for finishing all those things I needed to do. It wasn't WHAT I was eating that was the reward; it was the act of eating in itself that I found rewarding. I accomplished all my goals that day, I exercised my body, and now I get to nourish it. I don't believe that undermines my weight loss/healthy eating/getting fit goal at all.
Even if I was using treats as rewards (when I say treats I mean junk food.. anything you wouldn't eat if you were trying to lose weight), why is that looked upon so negatively? Everyone says that you shouldn't totally restrict yourself and have an indulgence every once in a while. So why is it considered "bad" if that indulgence is used as the reward for going above and beyond my fitness or eating goals?
For example, on Saturday I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, 1 hour of weight lifting, 1 hour of Zumba, and then I came home and cleaned out my closet! It was constant movement for over 4 hours. So I rewarded myself with an ice cream cone. It didn't throw me off track, and I don't think that I get ice cream every time I exercise, so what's the big deal? Even if the only reason I was exercising at all was so I could eat ice cream afterward, is it really so bad? At least I exercised!
As you can see, this whole thing kind of bothers me. I've always rewarded my good behavior in this way and it seems to be working. Do you guys out there have any thoughts on this? I'd love to hear them!
Anyway, on to today's stats:
Steps taken: 15300
Calories burned: 3125
Calories consumed:1250
Everything looks good there. And hey, I'm not even going to reward myself :)
Until tomorrow, readers.

Tailgating!
Good evening, readers!
Today is one of my two most dreaded days of the year: the Packers are playing the Vikings. As I type this it is 7-7 with 7 minutes to go in the first half. I can't even watch. No matter the outcome it basically sucks. We try our hardest to get along, not gloat, and be gracious winners/losers, but sometimes it's tough. And we're both really competitive, so that doesn't help matters at all.
Anyway, today was a pretty lazy Sunday. I was up pretty early, so I went to Target to buy groceries. While I was there I bought a birthday gift for Bill's brother, Rob, whose 40th birthday party is next weekend! I also bought a couple shirts to possibly wear to my bridal shower, which is also next weekend! It's going to be a rough Saturday, but we'll deal with that when it comes.
I got home and we went to church to, as Bill puts it, pray for our relationship to make it through the game. Funny. After church I went for a walk and then came home and took a nap. Super extra productive, I know. But I was really productive yesterday, so it all balances out.
Even though I'm not AT the Viking/Packer game right now, I did go down with Bill to do some tailgating:
There's lots of Packer fans there, so I don't get lonely.
I did a really good job while tailgating of keeping track of what I was eating. I didn't drink, so that helps. I brought frozen grapes with me to at least have a healthy option, and there were lots of other healthy options available, too. I did a good job of staying away from the desserts even. Look at all that willpower that has finally decided to make an appearance!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 14,000
Calories burned: 3000
Calories consumed: 1300
On a final note, this blog has reached a pretty big milestone in its blog life: 10,000 views! Thanks to everyone that reads, even on the incredibly mundane days. You're the reason I'm down 34 lbs and counting!
Until tomorrow, readers.

Weigh In: Week 30
Good evening, readers!
What a productive day it was today! When you guys see how much stuff I got done you will be impressed. Or jealous.
This morning I got up and went to BodyPump and Zumba. You know, the Saturday morning ritual. When I came home I did my weekly weigh-in, and...
I lost 1 lb this week! That brings the total up to 34 pounds! Let's take this moment to do a little happy dance!
After the weigh-in I showered and then Bill and I met Kris for lunch at Panera. After that we came home, and that's when our super-extra productiveness began.
First we inventoried all of the clothing we had in a pile to be donated. Because we're adults now apparently we have to write down everything we donate to claim on our taxes or something. Being an adult is highly overrated. I even made Bill try on a bunch of his pants to see if they still fit and donate some of those. After we inventoried everything we bagged everything up, and now we just have to bring them somewhere. But where?
After that Bill went to work for a while, since his project right now is really demanding. Surprisingly, I also caught up on some work emails and documents during that time, even though I almost never work from home. I also opened the box that I received with the bridesmaids dresses to make sure that they were the right sizes and colors. Everything looked good, so I started a file of wedding receipts to keep organized in case we need to return any wedding-related products.
Then I took a nap. Because I did a lot of adult things and it was exhausting.
When Bill got home we went to dinner at Culver's (since we missed it yesterday). It was our lucky day, since they gave us two scoops of ice cream for the price of one! At home I started working on the paper flowers for the centerpieces. Actually I just cut all the paper for the flowers, but it's a start.
See look at all that stuff I did! You'd think with so much productivity I would have more steps...
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 13000
Calories burned: 3000
Calories consumed: 1300
Tomorrow is the true test of a relationship... the Packer/Viking game. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go tailgating with the group, since I'll be the only one wearing green. Which is probably more of a reason to go. Have to represent, ya know?

Can Your Stomach Shrink?
Good evening, readers!
As I write this I realize that normally right now I am having date night with Bill at Culvers after a good cardio workout at the gym. Well, I got in the cardio workout, but no date night tonight. It's okay, though; Bill has had a really long week at work and when I got home he was already sleeping! I don't know how long he's been sleeping, but I got home just after 8. I figured I'd let him sleep. We can always go to Culver's tomorrow. Plus, the flavor of the day is chocolate chip cheesecake. Gross.
Today was super extra typical, sorry to say. When I say that I want you to know that my life, at least to me, is not boring. It's probably just not super exciting to read about. I'm learning new stuff at work, I have a good time with my coworkers, and at home I'm always occupied with wedding stuff, reading, hanging out with Bill, or working out. I have tons going on, but like I said it's just not super entertaining for the blog at the moment.
Random question: does anyone else get the hiccups every single time they eat raw carrots?
The only different thing about my day today, besides missing date night due to Bill's exhaustion, was our pretzel-themed potluck we had at work. I think I did pretty well at limiting myself. I tried a tiny bit of everything, but I didn't overindulge and stopped when I felt full (which is pretty easy to get to these days). I think my stomach has shrunk over time because I get full super fast now. Which I am counting as a blessing. But is that actually a thing? If so it's one of my favorite of God's magic tricks.
The only problem is that I don't really have any idea how many calories I ate today. I'm sure it's probably more than I should have, so I'm compensating by basically just eating raw vegetables for dinner. Hence the question about the carrots. And even though I wasn't super excited to go to the gym after work, especially on a Friday, I did it anyway since I knew I ate too much. Plus it always feels good when you're done (although it rarely feels good while you're doing it).
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 16,000
Calories burned: 3120
Calories consumed: ?? Somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 hopefully.
In wedding-planning land, it looks like all of the bridesmaid's dresses have arrived! So at least the women at this wedding will be clothed.
Early workout and weigh-in tomorrow. Who knows what that's going to look like. Hopefully my pretzel party won't be a factor!
Until then, readers.

Crunch Time
Good evening, readers!
Well, we're almost to the end of the week. This is where we really get into "crunch time" on the weigh in situation. I find that what I do on Thursday and Friday has a greater impact on my weigh-in. I try to avoid lots of salt to combat bloat, I drink tons of water to "flush out toxins" (aka any extra salt) and cut my calories back a little. Usually.
Which is why I'm worried about tomorrow. Yet also excited. We are having a pretzel party at work. Every good potluck needs a theme, really. We're having pretzel-bun sandwiches, soft pretzels with cheese sauce, flavored pretzel pieces, probably just some regular pretzels, and raspberry jell-o with candied pretzels for dessert (yes it's delicious.) I'm going to have to exercise ALL my self control to keep things in check tomorrow. Maybe I should just weigh-in tomorrow morning before I have a chance to sabotage myself. Thursday & Friday are diet "crunch time" for me. But with all those pretzels, tomorrow might be literal crunch time.
Today was a typical-ish day for me. I got up early and went to BodyPump. On a side note, I bought the cutest new t-shirt to wear to BodyPump on Amazon today. I can't wait to wear it when it comes! After BodyPump was work. I did a bit of training, lots of running around like a crazy person, and even a little actual work.
After work was everyone's favorite Zumba class. I had to run through the parking lot in the pouring rain to get there, but I made it! When I got home Bill was still at work so I had to wait for him to pick up Chipotle for me, and I was definitely starving so it was really hard to wait! #firstworldproblems
Today's stats:
Steps taken :17700
Calories burned: 3220
Calories consumed: 1125
Surprisingly, I kind of forgot to eat at work today. I took a lunch break and ate my sandwich and yogurt, but otherwise I didn't eat much. Which must be why that Chipotle was so delicious (and it's Chipotle, so it's auto delicious).
And now I'm off to try to strengthen my willpower to face tomorrow's challenges.
Until then, readers.

Obliques
Good evening, readers!
Just a warning... today's blog is probably going to sound a lot like yesterday's blog. Mostly because I did basically the same things.
This morning I got up at 4:45 and went to BodyPump at 5:30. It seemed harder than usual, but maybe I'm not used to weight lifting the morning after doing Zumba, since that's a new schedule change for me. By the time I got to work I was absolutely ravenous! Seriously weight lifting is the biggest appetite stimulant of all time. Not exactly what I need, but as long as I can control it I know the weight lifting is good for me.
Work has been exceptionally busy lately, and I am training as a back up for a new role, so I have a lot on my plate. Add wedding planning and working out on top of that, and that's basically all I do all day. Which is why a lot of my blogs are running together. But I'm going to keep writing them, because I find it really does keep me accountable. When I want to eat a cookie at work, I think "Do I really want to report that extra 250 calories in my blog?" It definitely helps.
Oh and that new exciting thing at work, I'm still waiting to hear. But it's getting closer. Sorry for such a long teaser on that one.
After work was Zumba at Midway. I forgot how much my Monday night Zumba teacher really works the obliques. When I got to Zumba after work and started dancing I realized that my obliques were super sore, even to the touch. But at least I know I used them!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 15600
Calories burned: 3140
Calories consumed: 1200
Over in wedding-planning land I spent my lunch looking at table runners and other things for the centerpieces, as well as some options for place cards. Apparently my mother was more productive, as she wrote me an email from "mother-of-the-bride" land detailing all the progress she is making on the veil, the center pieces, and the shower. Which reminds me, that's coming up in 10 days! Eek!
Well, if anyone has any ideas of stretching out your obliques I'd love to hear it. I'm off to figure out how to make that happen.
Until tomorrow, readers.

Monday Night... Zumba!
Good evening, readers!
There's nothing better than starting off your week right with a Monday night Zumba class. After a long hiatus (since April maybe?) my favorite Zumba teacher is back for some Monday night dancing action!
I know this is a weird thing to get excited about, but I've really missed having a consistent Monday night workout. I tried some classes at the Y, I tried running, I tried walking, but I couldn't find anything that I could get excited enough about on a Monday to stick with. So I'm happy it's back! And, even better, it should go basically all the way to the wedding! What's better news than that, really? I just love starting my week on such a high note.
Otherwise, today was just another Monday. That exciting work news I talked about in a previous post? Still waiting to hear on it. Hopefully soon, though! Otherwise work was pretty busy, and I had a lot of computer work to do, so I didn't take as many steps during the day as I would have liked.
Oy not much to report about today. It was just get up, go to work, go to Zumba, come home and eat dinner! I've never been more excited to eat dinner. And then I'll probably go right to bed, because I remember my aunt once saying something like, "once you run out of calories for the day you just go to bed." I think she was talking about Weight Watchers points, but the gist is the same. Once I've eaten all I'm allowed to eat for today, I just go to bed so it starts over tomorrow!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 15400
Calories burned: 3000
Calories consumed: 1220
Over in wedding-planning land, we're nailing down our reception decor pretty well. My mom sent me some links to look at today, but I didn't even have time to look at them! I suppose I could do it now, but that bed is sure calling my name...

Football is Back!
Good evening, readers!
Is everyone enjoying our first full Sunday of football? I know I am! We'll chalk up the first W to the Pack! Plus Bill is happy that the Vikes won, so we're a happy household today!
Besides watching too much football, we actually had a very productive day. I didn't do a ton of exercise, yet somehow I still ended up with a lot of steps just from all the moving I did. My mom and I took Bailey for a pretty long walk this morning, so I'm sure that helped. Otherwise all my steps came from grocery shopping or cleaning/working around the house! I spent a good 90 minutes cleaning out my side of the closet, organizing it, and creating a pretty large pile of donations to add to Bill's pile.
I'm sure I'm not the only person out there to have this problem, so let me ask for advice: on days when you're home most of the day, how do you stop yourself from grabbing little snacks here and there and sabotaging your diet? My plan today was to keep busy, because having a distraction is the best way to keep me from eating. I did a pretty good job, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks?
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 13,500
Calories burned: 2700
Calories consumed: 1400
See? I didn't do too bad. I am currently eating some frozen grapes for a snack after dinner, since we ate dinner early like old people do.
Over in wedding-planning land, we also had a very productive day! This morning my mom and I went to Joanne Fabrics to buy tulle, a comb, and beads to make a veil. When we were at the Wedding Shoppe trying on/picking up my dress, we also tried on a couple of veils to see what would work best. But then we looked at the price tags on those veils and had to sit down. $200 for a veil?? No thanks. Luckily my cousin Jordyn has a degree in fashion design and offered to make the veil. My mom also has experience in making veils so they are collaborating to make my veil instead of buying an overpriced one! I'm super thankful they have offered to do this!
I also spent a good amount of time working on invitations. I have finally found a template I really like, so now I'm playing with it to make it "ours" so to speak. I can't completely finish it, since we don't have all of the details nailed down (honestly we're not 100% sure what time the ceremony is even going to be). But I'm feeling like I've made good progress. Still so much to do! If any of my long-time readers think there's some important wedding task I haven't even mentioned in any of my blog posts, please let me know!
Well, I'm off to prepare for another week. I've got high hopes for this to be a fabulous one :)

Weigh In: Week 29
Good evening, readers!
You know how yesterday I said that I was planning on having an absolutely fabulous day today? My mom was a little worried that I was putting too much pressure on myself. But have no fear, for today was truly a fabulous day!
It started with my normal Saturday morning workouts. I got to BodyPump a bit early, so I spent 15 minutes on this elliptical-type machine that moves laterally. It has to be amazing for the inner thighs, because it totally burned (but in a good way). I made it through BodyPump and Zumba without any major complications, and then I went home to do my weigh-in.
Drum roll please...
I lost 3 pounds!!! That deserves three exclamation marks.
That brings my grand total to 33 lbs lost, I've lost all that extra fair weight and then some, and I am the lightest I have been since freshman year of college I'm pretty sure. Not that I was weighing myself back then.
After that fabulous news Bill and I spent some time getting the house in order for my parents, who are staying over tonight. My mom came and picked me up about noon for my wedding dress try-on appointment.
I was worried because we were running late and still had to pick up my cousin, Jordyn. But, because it was a fabulous day, we picked up Jordyn and made it to the appointment with 10 minutes to spare. Crushed it.
I was a little worried about my dress either being gigantic (because I've lost 25 lbs since I ordered it) or being too snug in the hips (since I ordered a size smaller than recommended.) I was relieved when I tried it on and it actually fit pretty well. It will definitely need to be taken in at the waist and bust and shortened just a little, but nothing we can't handle.
After a light lunch it was arts and crafts time! We got out our vases, flowers, candles, and glitter and experimented with different centerpieces. I was incredibly happy to have Jordyn with, as her eye for design is amazing and I think we settled and a very pretty centerpiece that we can make for relatively cheap.
Since I had only eaten a protein bar for breakfast and a lunch of soup and salad, I was absolutely ravenous by the time we got home to take the men out to dinner. We went to Cowboy Jacks, where I treated myself to some sweet potato fries! It was fabulous, like basically everything else that happened today.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 17650
Calories burned: 3280
Calories consumed: Not sure.
Sometimes, when eating out, it's hard to figure out exactly how many calories you've eaten. In these cases, when the restaurant doesn't provide calorie counts, I just have to use my best judgement. But it's hard to track the calories. I could guess, but let's just say that I ate healthily today and that is enough.
I think I'm going to get to bed. I need to rest after all that fabulousness!
Until tomorrow, readers.

Fabulous Friday
Good evening, readers!
Just another fabulous day in this fabulous world we live in. Yes, I'm going to be annoyingly happy today. Deal with it.
And why so happy? Well, it's Friday. That alone is enough to call the day fabulous. There's something exciting happening at work, although I don't want to jinx it so I'm not going to give any more details until I have 100% confirmation of my suspicions. And, the coup de grace, tomorrow is finally wedding dress day! I'm not usually one to get excited over such traditionally "girly" things, but this time I really am!
All that happiness today translated well into my diet and exercise regime. I felt pretty hungry this morning, but I didn't give in to my cravings and only ate fruit and vegetables until lunchtime. After lunch I did indulge in some cookies, but nothing diet-breaking in any way.
Normally on Fridays I go to kickboxing class at 7, but I realized that there are probably not very many nice-weather weekends left until the wedding, so I decided to exercise outside instead of going to class. Plus, Bill signed us up for a 5k in like 20 days so I figured I should train for that. I ended up running a loop that was a little over 4k and averaged just over 7 minutes a kilometer, which is always my goal. So I'm feeling pretty good about that. I got extra sweaty, too, so I don't feel too guilty about skipping kickboxing.
On to today's stats:
Steps taken: 16,600
Calories burned: 3250
Calories consumed: 1350
Those stats up there are basically perfect. If I could make sure every day was like that and not binge on fair food or slip up and eat half a pizza, that would be great.
Tomorrow's weigh-in will hopefully go in my favor. As past weigh-ins have proven, I need to have a negative outlook to make sure I lose weight. So here is my obligatory "I wasn't as good as I should have been this week, I'm worried about tomorrow's weigh in" statement.
Don't tell whoever it is that's in charge of weigh-ins, but I'm sure it will go well because I have big plans to have an even more fabulous day tomorrow than I am having today.
Well, I'm off to rest up for more fabulousness tomorrow!
Until then, readers.

Unity Volcano!
Good evening, readers!
Happy almost Friday! Gotta love a short work week. Yesterday's rest day was just what I needed. Bill was at a Fantasy Football draft so I lounged around, watched a bunch of reruns of The Big Bang Theory, and googled random wedding stuff.
I've been looking into the unity ceremony and what we might want to do for that. I'm not really into unity candles in general, although I am more of a fan of the sand idea (where you pour two different colored sands into a single vessel) because it's more of a keepsake. The thing about the candles is that it seems like you lost the individual (blowing out the original candles but keeping the larger candle lit). At least with the sand you're combining two cool things into one awesome thing, which I feel represents the couple as individuals AND a couple in a better way.
I've also seen some interesting ideas online, including a unity cross, a unity rope, hand binding, etc. But then I had the world's greatest idea: UNITY VOLCANO. We can build a middle-school science fair volcano, and then for the ceremony Bill can pour the vinegar and I can pour the baking soda and KABLAM! Unity awesomeness. Unfortunately Bill isn't on board with this yet, but I'm working on it.
Today was a pretty good day as far as diet and exercise is concerned. I did my 5:30am BodyPump (actually Strength Together, but whatever), then went to work. It was a super busy day, but it went by pretty quick, and I had over14,000 steps before I even got to Zumba. I was a little late to Zumba class due to traffic, but I only missed like 7 minutes so I still had plenty of time to get good and sweaty.
Today's stats:
Steps taken:20300
Calories burned: 3350
Calories consumed: 1250
I came home after Zumba and immediately headed to the kitchen because I was absolutely starving. I am currently shoveling salad with chicken into my mouth and chewing while typing. I'll have to add some more calories to that count because I burned so many today I don't want to starve myself.
That's really all the exciting news to report. I'm looking forward to Friday, and I'm extra looking forward to Saturday, when I finally get to pick up my wedding dress!
Until tomorrow, readers.

It's Billy's Birthday!
Good evening, readers!
As the title of this post suggests, it's Billy's birthday today! Although I have to say, I feel like it might actually be my birthday.
Why is that, you ask? Well, about a week ago Bill was discussing with his dad some of the ideas we had for improving our town house. I wasn't home, but somehow during this discussion Bill ended up putting his head through a light fixture. Don't worry, he was fine, but we obviously needed to replace the light fixture. And honestly it was incredibly ugly, so I wasn't heartbroken.
When I got home after work today, Bill's dad had not only put in brand new track lighting in the kitchen, which was a major upgrade, but he also installed a ceiling fan in our bedroom! I don't think I've ever been so excited in my life! A HUGE thank you to Bob for doing that for us, all while we were at work! We seriously can't thank you enough!
I have to say, this was definitely the kind of home improvement project I enjoy. It got done without my help while I wasn't even home. I picked out the fixtures and they magically appeared!
Well, besides the nice surprise when I got home, it was a pretty normal day. I didn't go to BodyPump this morning because I went yesterday, so I got to sleep in and enjoy the thunderstorms a bit before work. Work was extra busy after the holiday weekend, so I while I got responses to a lot of the wedding emails I sent yesterday I was hardly able to find time to read them, let alone respond.
After work was Zumba, which was totally packed. It's hard to get in a good workout when you don't have the space to stretch your arms out all the way. I still get sweaty, though, so that has to count for something.
It's funny, because even though it's Bill's birthday I haven't seen him since I said goodbye this morning and he was still in bed. He is currently at a Fantasy Football draft, so I probably won't even see him before I fall asleep. Good thing we celebrated yesterday!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 17300
Calories burned: 3210
Calories consumed: 1150
So obviously I need to eat something to get that calorie count up a little bit, but otherwise everything is looking good today! I have to make up for that pizza I ate yesterday so it's probably okay to let the calorie count stay a bit lower.
Final note for the night: Bill thought it would be a good idea to sign us up for a 5k at 3M at the end of September. So that will be fun. I guess I should start training.
Until tomorrow, readers.
