Good evening, readers!
What a fabulous weekend it was! Yesterday's garage saling discoveries turned into an arts and crafts day at home for me!
I cleaned up my fancy new paper cutter, and it didn't even need sharpening! So I set to work cutting my lilac paper, navy blue paper, and then some book pages. RIP books. I also ordered a new book folding template. I tried to start making some of the paper flowers, but I think I need to buy some glue dots. I didn't feel like putting on a bra or real pants, though, so I'll buy the glue dots tomorrow.
Oh I bought the new Harry Potter book and spent a couple hours reading that. I'm about halfway done, so it's a quick read. It started out kind of... different. It's written as a play, so that took some getting used to. But now that I'm halfway done, I'm pretty much hooked.
All of that makes it sound like I didn't really move from my couch today, which is totally not true. I spent at least 2 hours catching Pokemon. Plus I went grocery shopping in the morning (mostly to buy that Harry Potter book).
Oh, I also did my weigh-in this morning! Drum roll please....
Another pound down!
Yep, like I suspected last night, I have lost another pound. That brings my grand total to 28lbs lost and going strong (hopefully). August will be a rough month, because of the State Fair and all. I'm hoping to get to 30lbs by August 12, since that will be exactly 6 months since I started this journey!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 12,000
Calories burned: 3000
Calories consumed: 1550
Everything looking good to start the week off right. Now I just have to decide if I should continue reading this Harry Potter book or actually fold my laundry? Being an adult is hard.
Until tomorrow, readers.

Garage Saling!
Good evening, readers!
I understand that "saling" is not an actual word. But the phrase "garage saling" is fairly common, at least in my mind, so I sincerely believe that "saling" should be added to the dictionary. I mean it's obviously not spelled garage sailing, because garages don't float. I suppose it could be garage sale-ing, but that doesn't seem right either. Garage selling? Just selling bits of your garage? This is quite the conundrum.
Always good to start off with a ridiculous tangent. Really keeps the audience captivated, no?
This morning Sam and I went garage saling. I got up about 5:30 and had planned on doing an hour of Cize in the basement. Unfortunately, I got about 10 minutes in when the DVD started skipping. So instead I decided to go for a run. I did about two miles, which I felt pretty proud of considering I've been doing a lot of cardio but none so consistently strenuous as distance running. Luckily it was cool in the early hours.
After getting ready I headed over to Minnetonka. We went to breakfast at a little diner in downtown Hopkins to make our plan, and then we began our adventure. I was looking for some specific wedding things, mostly books and vases, while Sam was looking for some furniture pieces. As luck would have it, the very first sale we went to was on the same street as some ladies who were having a book sale! I ended up getting 10 books throughout the course of the day, as well as 8 vases. And I hardly spent any money. My big find of the day, though, was this:
Not the puzzle. It's my very own paper cutter!
It's going to be so easy to make my paper flowers now! Bill said he can sharpen up the blade and we will be ready to roll. I'm so excited!
I'll be honest, I was surprised I had such a good time. Those who know me know that I don't like to have a lot of extraneous "stuff" lying around everywhere, so I thought garage sales would be appalling. But, when you have specific things you are looking for it makes it more like a treasure hunt. Plus, when you go to estate sales you get to see inside people's houses, and that's kind of cool too.
Garage saling took way longer than we thought, and I didn't get home until almost 5! By then I was exhausted and ended up taking a 90 minute nap. I actually woke up refreshed this time (instead of groggy like last time) so I went out for some Pokemon catching time after a quick dinner.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 20,000
Calories burned: 3524
Calories consumed: 1600
All-in-all this was a productive day on both the wedding front as well as the fitness front. Tomorrow we have to face the dreaded weigh-in, so we will see how that goes. I haven't the slightest idea, but my guess is I probably lost 1 lb. I stuck to my diet pretty well every day except Wednesday, so that seems about right. But we will see tomorrow!
Until then, readers.

And now, the fun part!
Good evening, readers!
I really meant to post yesterday. Really, I did. I got home from work and felt a bit tired, so I thought I would lay down for a few minutes before going to BodyStep. A few minutes turned into an hour, so I basically slept through BodyStep. Bill woke me up and made me dinner, which was fried eggs on toast. Maybe he was trying to trick me into thinking it was already morning by feeding me breakfast. It didn't really work, because I still felt groggy so I just went back to bed.
Today I feel much better, though! I did tons of Pokemon catching before and after work. I went to Cardio Kick class, and then to our usual Culver's Friday night date.
I spent the entire drive home on the phone with my mom talking about wedding stuff. We talked about showers and coordinating dates, we talked about the dress she bought, the dress I bought, the dress the bridesmaids bought, etc. There's so many little details you just don't think of until someone finally asks!
It's no secret that I want to use paper flowers in my decor. My mom has been experimenting with different types of paper flowers we could make. Look at these beauties!
It was funny how guilty she felt destroying a book to make those two flowers. But I'm totally in love with them! RIP book.
I feel like we are finally getting to the fun parts of wedding planning. We have all the big stuff figured out: church, venue, photographer, DJ, honeymoon, registries, transportation... now we're getting to the more artistic things. Flowers, decor, centerpieces. Now we can really be creative! I'm surprisingly looking forward to this part, even though I'm not very artistic.
Oh I almost forgot, today's stats:
Steps taken: 19250
Calories burned: 3500
Calories consumed: 1500
Tomorrow morning I am going garage sale-ing with Sam, so I won't be doing my normal Saturday morning workout/weigh-in routine. Which means I may be a day late with this week's weigh-in. You're not missing much, considering how terrible I ate on Wednesday I'm sure I gained something. Bill says I can't lose weight with a bad attitude. Watch me.
Until tomorrow, readers.

3M Family Picnic
Good evening, readers!
I'm posting a little early tonight. I've done everything a little early today, including getting up, going to work, leaving work, eating dinner, and now posting this blog. So it's only 6:30, but my mind is like 3 hours ahead of schedule, thinking it's 9:30.
So I just reread yesterday's post. Sorry about that. I was obviously incredibly tired and probably should just have gone to bed, but I felt the need to post out of some weird loyalty to the 50 people who read this. Actually we're getting up toward 60. How exciting :)
Today was a fun day because I got to leave work early (fun thing #1) and go to Bill's 3M Family Picnic (fun thing #2). I usually suck at meeting new people because my awkward factor goes through the roof, but it wasn't so bad this time. Maybe because all those engineers at 3M are just as awkward as me.
The "picnic" was more like an event, with food trucks, games, prizes, and alcohol. I had some tacos from one of the food trucks, sampled the Oreo Churros, and helped myself to a Redd's Apple Ale. So not the best thing diet-wise, but it could have been much, much worse. I won't even mention the malt cups or italian ice we lifted on the way to the car and now have in the freezer for later. Yep, won't even mention them.
But it's okay. I mean, this isn't going to throw me totally off track or anything. I have you guys here making sure that I'm doing things the healthy way. Honestly, this blog has really served its purpose, at least from the fitness standpoint. I feel so accountable to everyone who reads this that I KNOW I won't revert back to my old ways of over eating just because I had one bad day.
I'm not going to have stats tonight because I still have a lot to do. I'm going to burn more calories and increase my step count while out catching Pokemon, so those stats wouldn't even be accurate anyway. I'm definitely not eating anything else, though. I don't know how many calories I've consumed, and I don't really want to know. So we will just forgo the stats for today.
Until tomorrow, readers.

UV Blue
Good evening, readers!
It seems like every Tuesday is the same as the Tuesday before: 5:30am BodyPump, 5:30pm Zumba, some work in between there, then home for dinner and bed.
And today was really no exception, until after dinner. Or actually during dinner, when Cy's owner Jen called and said that her daughter missed Cy and could she pick him up tonight instead of tomorrow like planned? I offered to walk him over to her house instead, since it's only about a mile and we were going to go on a walk anyway.
We always have a good time with Jen, and tonight was no exception. We had a few drinks, and just made it home now (about 9:45). But the drinks were low calorie, I promise. UV blue with diet cranberry and a hint of lime. It was delicious. Although I didn't realize that two drinks would make me feel so bloated.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 22,700
Calories burned: 3800
Calories consumed: About 1600
Maybe I should drink more often, since it makes me feel so full.
Tomorrow should be a fun day; we are going to Bill's 3M company picnic. I'm finally going to get to meet all those coworkers he always talks about (only good things of course).
Until tomorrow, readers.

Stuffed.
Good evening, readers!
Yesterday I had to make a decision on whether to push my weight loss goal this week or keep it within my normal, healthy range of 1-2 lbs per week.
After much deliberation, I have decided it would be better for me to continue with my healthy, consistent weight loss than try to push it too hard. I'm concerned about the effects on my body, but also the effects on my psyche. If I don't manage to reach 3 lbs lost, I will feel like I've let myself down. If I somehow managed to lose 3 lbs in a week I might try to replicate that success and end up hurting myself in the long run. So while I would love to reach my July goal-let of 7 lbs, I will happily settle for 6 if I can lose 2 lbs this week. And I will definitely try for that.
Today was Monday. Obviously. But man was it hard to get out of bed. I got to work early, though, and caught some Pokemon on campus for a while. After work I decided I felt the need to experiment in the kitchen, so I took what ingredients I had and made this fancy dish:
MMM stuffed peppers. Delicious and relatively healthy. We didn't even have anything else to eat with them, but I am still totally stuffed. Maybe that's why they call them stuffed peppers in the first place.
After dinner I took my newfound Pokemon catching buddy, Cy, for a nice long walk. He really is the perfect walking buddy because he doesn't mind taking lots of little breaks while I am trying to catch stuff or battle at a gym. We even happened to see a real life ice cream truck on the walk. It was a good thing I didn't have any money with me!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 14,300
Calories burned: 3050
Calories consumed: 1220
I'm not even hungry but I feel like I should eat something to get that calorie count up. Maybe I'll grab a protein bar or some milk or something.
Anywho, off the bed for tomorrow's 5am wake up call!
Until then, readers.

Weigh In: Week 22
Good evening, readers!
Well, I have good news and bad news today. The good news is that I lost weight this week. The bad news is it was only 1/2 pound.
That means that I have now lost 27 lbs, which is fantastic and I am very proud of myself. The bad news is that I still have 3 lbs to go on my goal of losing 7 lbs by the end of July, and I only have 1 week in which to do it. While not impossible, I don't usually try to lose so much weigh per week because it doesn't really seem healthy.
So now I am stuck with a conundrum: Should I work really hard this week and try to lose the 3 lbs I need to reach the goal I set for myself? Or should I forego the goal-let for the sake of health and continue to lose weight at my slow and steady pace? I'm unsure of what to do, but I'm sure I need to make a decision pretty quickly.
This morning, after my weigh-in, I went to BodyStep at the Y. The YMCA is definitely air-conditioned, as most of the building felt nice and cool. However, the room in which we had class didn't seem to be getting any air conditioning. Once we really started working it just kept heating up. It got so bad that the mirrors actually fogged up:
Yeah, it was rough. I was not the only person completely drenched in sweat. I only made it through 50 of the 60 minutes before I started to get dizzy, probably from dehydration (trust me I drank what felt like gallons of water). I'm totally fine, so don't worry. But I had to get out of there!
Otherwise today was a pretty low-key Sunday. We went to the Eagan outlet mall to get Bill a new pair of gym shoes. We had lunch at the Genghis Grill. I've probably mentioned the restaurant here before; it's the best because you can make it super healthy. It's actually pretty tough to make it unhealthy.
I also took Cy for a couple of walks today. Having a dog around is fabulous because I look a lot less creepy catching Pokemon when I have a dog with me.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 15000
Calories burned: 3000
Calories consumed: 1250
I haven't eaten much today, but it's only 8:30 and I will probably be going for the peanut butter/celery combo for a late-night snack.
And we now, unfortunately, have to move on to Monday.
Until then, readers.

Bridesmaid's Dress Shopping
Good evening, readers!
Today was a super fun day! This morning I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to BodyPump, and afterward Zumba. It's always a good way to start off the weekend, getting in a killer weight workout and then cardio right after. Plus I can be lazy the rest of the day and not feel guilty about it.
Afterward I met up with the girls and we went bridesmaid dress shopping! We went to the Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul, the same place where I bought my wedding dress. Luckily I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, so the girls didn't have to try on a million dresses. Actually just like 4 each or so. In my opinion it was a lot of fun, and I hope they thought so, too!
I mean we all look like we're having fun. It's funny that all three of them are just about the same height. We also talked about what shoes they're going to wear, as well as the whole hair/makeup situation. In the end we all agreed on their dresses and got them ordered!
I am just feeling so incredibly accomplished after all of that! In my attempt to make 1 decision a day, I actually made 3 decisions today! As Maddie would say, I can take a break from decisions for a few days.
I was a little distracted this morning, and I forgot to weigh myself before I took my shower. An you can't weigh yourself AFTER you shower because your hair is wet and it adds extra weight. Don't worry, though (like you were worried) I will do my weigh-in tomorrow.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 14,200
Calories consumed: 1700
Calories burned: 3000
And to top it off, I have a walking buddy for a few days! Cy is staying at our house until Wednesday, I think, so I will have an excuse to walk around and catch Pokemon. As long as it's not raining tomorrow like it was today!
Until then, readers.

9 months to go!
Good evening, readers!
Happy humid Friday! Thank the good lord for air conditioning. I can't believe we are down to 9 months left! It doesn't seem that long, really. Like 10 months, that seems like forever. But 9 months? It doesn't seem like enough time!
Today started out rather poorly, to be honest. I overslept my alarm by about an hour. That didn't make me late for work (I was a half hour early due to non-existent traffic) but it did mean that I wasn't able to do much besides brush my teeth and throw together a lunch.
Work was nice and busy, just the way I like it. Although it was another day with a lot of computer work, so my step count wasn't the greatest.
After work Bill and I had our usual Friday night date night; we went to the Y and then out to Culver's. We had a sub for cardio kick today, but she was actually really fun! The time passed quickly, so that's always a plus.
I tried to teach Bill about Pokemon Go after dinner when we went on a walk. I took him to a Pokestop, caught a few Pokemon, and hatched a couple eggs. He was unimpressed. He is still adamant that he will never download the game... I will keep trying.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 18,000
Calories burned: 3350
Calories consumed: 1500
I stuck to my diet perfectly today. It really helps when there aren't treats around the office. This week was sabotaged by all the treats. Monday was peanut butter cookies. Tuesday was bagels. Wednesday was donuts. Thursday was a barbecue. Luckily there was nothing on Friday to test my willpower. I have a feeling the scale will not be kind to me this week, however.
And that brings us to tomorrow! I'm super excited because I feel like it's going to be one of the more fun days in this whole wedding planning business... we are going bridesmaids dress shopping! My cousin and bridesmaid Maddie will be in town, and we are all getting together to pick out their dresses.
Other notable events happening tomorrow: Weigh-in day (BOO) and we are getting Cy for 4 days (YAY). Hopefully Cy likes Pokemon Go, because he will get all the walks.
Luckily we get the workout/weigh-in done first thing in the morning on Saturday, so I can have the rest of the day to enjoy!
Until then, readers.

Happy humid Friday! Thank the good lord for air conditioning. I can't believe we are down to 9 months left! It doesn't seem that long, really. Like 10 months, that seems like forever. But 9 months? It doesn't seem like enough time!

Book Folding Art
Good evening, readers!
Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but it's kind of hard to but a blog together when you are falling asleep at 8:30. Maybe all this heat and humidity just put me in a stupor.
Today was just another normal day, ya know? I went to 5:30am BodyPump in the middle of that thunderstorm, but at least it wasn't a bad storm like it was up north. It was already hot, though, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
I definitely walked the short route to work today to avoid all the stickiness. I also did a lot of computer work, which means I didn't get in a whole lot of steps while at work. After work I went and watched Bill play in his last softball games. It was hot and sticky, of course, but I mostly went to make sure that no one fainted of heat stroke and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Today was also "employee appreciation day" at our work, so we had a barbecue with lots of treats. I have to say that I did really well! I ate one hotdog on a bun slathered in mustard, about 1/4 cup of baked beans, a whole ton of pickles, and one cookie. It's all about good choices!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 13,000
Calories burned: 3050
Calories consumed: 1510
I thought "I should eat more, my calories are kind of low." But I also had a lower calorie burn today, so it pretty much evens out.
Over in wedding-planning land, I finally finished my first DIY project! I've been working on my book-folding art for awhile now, mostly while watching entire discs of The Big Bang Theory. I've mentioned it in my blog before, but never gave an example. Now that I am finished with my first piece of artwork, I am ready to share it!
Thank you to my lovely model, Bill, for holding that up for me. I will need to find one of those plastic holders to put it on.
The angle of the photo kind of cuts off the "E", but I'm hoping it's obvious that it says "Emerson." I plan to make a couple more of these with different words/photos.
A quick rundown of how it's made: I chose the word and font I wanted, and sent that, along with the height, width, and # of pages of my book, to a seller on Etsy who makes you a "template." The template is just a list of measurements. My book was about 1,000 numbered pages, so I had to fold 500 physical pages. So on page 1, the template said "9.4cm/15cm". So I would take out my tape measure, mark 9.4 and 15cm on page 1, and then fold the page down to 9.4 and up to 15. And then I did that 499 more times. I'm not sure that made sense at all, and I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but I found my method worked well even if it was time-consuming. Today my pharmacist Darla and I calculated that it took me about 20 hours to finish this. Am I crazy to want to do more? It's kind of relaxing!
So now I just need to find another big book to begin my next folding project!
I must rest up to attempt to make it through the last day of the work week.
Until tomorrow, readers.

Let's Get Some Shoes!
Good evening, readers!
Today was the epitome of a normal Kayti day. I awoke at 4:45, grabbed my bags, and headed to 5:30am BodyPump. If anyone out there reading this also participates in BodyPump, you will know how torturous the newest release is. Our instructor told us that a normal class is about 500 reps, but this newest version is about 650. And I feel it! I did it for the first time on Saturday and had a rough time getting out of bed on Sunday. I'm a little worried about tomorrow, considering I tried adding a bit more weight this go round.
After BodyPump I stopped at Panera for my free coffee, and decided to get the coworkers some bagels (in thanks for putting up with my incessant wedding/workout talk). This turned out to the the fatal flaw in my day, as I was so sure I could withstand the sent of those bagels. Obviously I could not, and I ended up eating 1&1/2. Those bagels are giving me a better guilt trip than my mom ever could (it's a joke!).
After work I went to the Midway YMCA for Zumba class. This class has some fun aspects (like the dance battle I mentioned last week), but I'm not sure about it overall. It's not a great workout, and there was actually a time tonight where the instructor was on her phone WHILE dancing. So that irked me a bit. I do like going to that class because I don't have to battle rush hour traffic. So, ya know, pros and cons.
I got home and made myself some dinner (avocado on toast), light obviously because of the stupid bagels. I was about to work on some wedding folding when the Pokemon servers came back up! So I ended up hunting Pokemon for 80 minutes instead. I've kind of been slacking in the folding department, but there's still plenty of time. I'll fold when it's -20 outside.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 23000
Calories burned: 3600
Calories consumed: 1750
I guess my calorie count turned out okay. Maybe I should eat a treat every day so the guilt motivates me to work out! Oooor not.
The only exciting news in wedding-planning land is that my shoes came in the mail today! I was worried because the site said they run small, but I couldn't order them a 1/2 size bigger because I already wear an 11 and that's the highest they go. But, after trying them on, they fit well and are pretty comfortable! I was going to post a picture but I have to have some surprises, right?
Tomorrow is rest day, and it's supposed to be hot and humid so I can hopefully stay indoors. That all depends on how sore I am, though. If I get too sore I'll have to workout just to alleviate it faster.
Until tomorrow, readers.

The Little Things
Good evening, readers!
Sometimes you just have days like today, where nothing particularly special happens. It's not a bad day, by any means. It's just a normal day. That's what today was for me. But the beauty is finding happiness in those normal days.
Today was, as I hear from our infallible weatherpersons, the last day before an inevitable heatwave. Which is why I spent as much time as possible out of doors. And for someone who makes no secret of her detestation of nature, this was no small feat. I decided to walk the long way to work. This provided three benefits; first, I got more steps in, and therefore more exercise. Second, I got to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air before it becomes so humid we may as well be swimming. And third, walking is the best way to catch Pokemon.
Work was busy, which helped the day go by fast. I walked the long way home in order to enjoy my trifecta of outdoor benefits again. The traffic was hardly an issue, just another little thing to smile at on this normal day.
At home I made salads with chicken for dinner. I added some french bread and an apple, and I think we may have actually hit every single food group. This doesn't usually happen, as I tend to cut out one of the big calorie groups; usually carbs, sometimes protein. After dinner Bill was doing some work on his motorcycle, so I decided to talk a walk around the neighborhood and catch a few more Pokemon before heading in.
It's funny; I spend a lot of my time worrying about the big things. I worry about money, I worry about health, and I worry about the future. But when you have a day like today, where so many little things go your way and you find tiny blessings around every corner, it takes away a lot of those big worries. I feel very calm. So that's weird.
Today's quick stats:
Steps taken: 18000
Calories burned: 3300
Calories consumed: about 1700
Eek on that calorie count. Glad I decided to forgo the ice cream trip that Bill suggested once he had his motorcycle up and running.
I hope you find a few little joys in your day today.
Until tomorrow, readers.

And the Registries Are Up!
Good evening, readers!
Yesterday's super secret wedding project has finally been completed. I'm glad my cliff hanger had you coming back for more! And our big secret was.... we have finished our gift registries! Okay so not really super secret. I just didn't post it yesterday because we weren't quite finished with them yet. Obviously we don't expect anyone to get us a gift; we actually entertained the idea of not registering at all. But after the objection of many a family member, we completed two gift registries.
We first registered at Target. You can view that registry here:
Kayti and Bill's Target Registry
We also registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, which can be viewed here:
Kayti and Bill's Bed Bath and Beyond Registry
Let me know if those links don't work. It took all of my 1998 internet skills to create a hyperlink.
I have to be honest, completing those registries was more difficult than I thought it would be. Since we already own our house and have it completely furnished, it was hard to come up with stuff we really needed. But, we've been saving up money to do some renovations, so we haven't invested in things like really good cookware or dishes yet.
The other thing we haven't invested in is wall art. If you've ever been to our house you know that we have a ton of wall space and not a lot hanging there. You also know that I'm pretty obsessed with the yellow and grey color combo (our entire kitchen/living/entryway has these colors). On my very first trip to Hobby Lobby (just a few weeks ago) I found their yellow and grey wall art section and have been obsessing ever since. I decided to save my money for wedding stuff and renovations, so I haven't bought any. And then I thought, "it's too bad you can't register at Hobby Lobby."
Then Bill had a spectacular idea: Hobby Lobby is all about DIY, right? Well why don't we have a DIY Hobby Lobby registry? Genius!
So, please consider this Blog post our official Hobby Lobby gift registry! Here's all that fabulous wall art I have been obsessing over:
That last one is Bill's pick... I had to let him have something, right? :)
I really don't want everyone out there to think we are super materialistic and just asking for gifts. It seems to me the strong opinion is that people WANT you to register, as it makes their gift buying experience easier. And honestly, if anything I can just consider this post a list of all the wall art I want, and slowly check them off over time.
Back to the real world (aka work) in the AM.
Until tomorrow, readers.

Weigh In: Week 21
Good evening, readers!
Today was an absolutely fantastic day. You know why?
I lost 2 pounds this week!
That brings my weight-loss total to 26.5lbs in 21 weeks. It brings my July weight loss to 3.5 lbs, which is right on track to reach my July goal-let of 7lbs (which will bring my total weight loss to 30lbs, or exactly halfway to my goal).
I'm incredibly excited about this. I knew I had done okay this week, but I had allowed myself some treats I thought were indulgent and wasn't sure I'd hit the two pounds I'd need to maintain my progress on my goal-let. I'm happy that eating a sweet here or there doesn't totally destroy me!
In other news, Bill and I did some super secret wedding stuff today that I will tell you all about tomorrow, as we're not quite finished with it but should be finished by tomorrow night. That's why I don't have a lot of stuff to report today, because we spent a good 6 hours on this.
My food intake today was good, I think, if not a little bit weird for me. I had a Fiber One bar for breakfast, a salad from Chipotle for lunch, and Bill made pasta with red sauce for dinner. It's weird for me because normally I snack throughout the day to keep my metabolism up and eat smaller meals. I find that I can only eat like 1/2 the portions I'm used to (except when it comes to ice cream). I ate more at dinner than I probably should have, but I did BodyPump and Zumba this morning. I decided to work it off with an after-dinner, Pokemon-catching walk. I was gone for 2 hours. The entire time I could feel that pasta sitting in my stomach like lead; you must wait 30 minutes after eating to hunt Pokemon, apparently.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 23,000
Calories burned: 3600
Calories consumed: 1400
I'm going to go remedy my low calorie count right now with some celery and peanut butter, my go-to filling snack when my calories are too low and it's close to bedtime.
Make sure you check back tomorrow for info on that super-secret wedding project!
Until then, readers.

Wedding Nightmares
Good evening, readers!
Was it impossible to get out of bed this morning or what? We had all the windows wide open in our house. It felt great to air everything out, and the cool breeze and nighttime nature sounds (which is about as close to nature as I want to get) really help put me in a deep sleep.
Although I did have a wedding nightmare last night, and it is definitely not my first. In my nightmare last night I lost my memory and regained it while at my wedding reception. The problem was no one believed I had lost my memory at all, and then I was stuck explaining my terrible wedding choices. Specifically my hair was really bad. Other wedding nightmares have included forgetting super important things until the day-of, like once I forgot to pick up my wedding dress and another time I forgot to book a photographer. I thought maybe my subconscious was trying to tell me that I was forgetting something important, but now I think it's just being a jerk.
I was happy to wake up from my nightmare, but I still had a rough time dragging myself out of bed. Once I finally managed to get my feet on the floor, I got to work early and spent some time catching Pokemon around campus. That's one little perk of working on a University campus; we have tons of Pokemon, Pokestops, and gyms around. I can actually spin a Pokestop while at my desk. Don't be jealous.
After work Bill and I had our usual Friday night date night; YMCA and Culver's. I usually go to Cardio Kick class while Bill does his own workout, but today he actually joined me in class! I'm happy he got to see that the class is actually really challenging. Plus I think it made me work harder, like I was trying to impress him or something.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 20,000
Calories burned: 3500
Calories consumed: 1850
Yes, I ate too much today. There were treats all over the place at work. Although when I add up everything I ate, it only equaled about 350 calories extra. It could have been way worse.
Hopefully today's slight lapse won't effect tomorrow's weigh-in. There have been very few weeks when I have felt confident going into the weigh-in, and this week is no exception. To continue on with my goal-let, I need to lose 2 pounds. I'll be lucky to lose 1, I think.
But enough with all the speculating, we will just have to see tomorrow!
Until then, readers.

We've Booked Our Honeymoon!
Good evening, readers!
I could tell you about all the marginally interesting things that have happened in the last two days, or I could just get straight to the good stuff...
We have finally booked our honeymoon! I'm so freaking excited! Here's a little preview:
That's right, the Dominican Republic! We are staying that the Excellence resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We're leaving on the 24th of April (the Monday after our wedding) and coming back on the 30th. So if anyone feels like going to the Dominican Republic next April... ;)
Well, now that we've gotten all the best stuff out of the way, we can get down to the nitty-gritty. I didn't post yesterday because I was too busy freaking out about money for the wedding. I tend to do that every once in a while, usually when some large payment comes due. Logically I know we have the money, but when it actually comes to spending it I tend to panic. I guess it's better than spending money willy-nilly, but I should probably learn to relax. I'm sure Bill would agree.
Yesterday was Wednesday, so it was rest day. I still did a good job of getting my steps in via Pokemon hunting. Today was NOT a rest day, so I got up at 5 and went to 5:30 am Body Pump like I do. After work I tried to make it to 5:45 Zumba, but I really can't make it there until 6. So instead I came home and revisited my Cize DVDs!
I hadn't done Cize in a while, but I was really in the mood to dance. So I moved that coffee table out of the way and got my groove on! I forgot how fun those videos actually are. Hopefully I can use some of the moves at our wedding :)
I've done a few more wedding things in the past two days. My mom found navy blue 28lb paper (like printer paper basically) for me to use to make my paper flowers! I had been using 55lb cardstock, which works but is more difficult to be precise. I'm super excited she found it. Once it arrives I will have all the paper I need to start the arduous task of making all those flowers!
I've made a lot of progress on my book folding art, too! Hopefully I can finish it this weekend and post a picture for everyone so you actually know what I'm talking about.
I also ordered my shoes! Man look at all that progress! I even worked on our save-the-dates a little, even though they're not being sent for at least 4 more months. If I was a superhero I would be Get-Everything-Done-Early Girl.
Today's quick stats:
Steps taken: 16,000
Calories burned: 3100
Calories consumed: 1450
My calories are a little low, so I'm probably going to get some celery with peanut butter to get with my goal range. Otherwise things are looking good!
Hopefully all this positivity and progress can last into the weekend!
Until tomorrow, readers.

When 5 Lbs Feels like 10
Good evening, readers!
What a fabulous day it was today! The humidity and the temperature went down, which made it the perfect evening for taking a nice long walk and catching a few Pokemon :)
This morning I got up at 5:30 and went to BodyPump. Before I state my reasons for BodyPump feeling like absolute torture today, let me say that I am very glad I went.
After work I thought that I would give the Midway YMCA a try and went to the 5:30pm Zumba class there. The instructor also teaches at Woodbury, but I've never taken her class there because I can't make it on time (it's at 5:45 on Thursdays, and I can't get there until 6). I had heard good things about her, though, so I went.
I have to say, I was a bit unsure at first. Once I learn the dances more I'm sure it will be an absolute blast, but I still had a really good time! The last song we did like a "dance battle". It was fun to have a little attitude!
I got home and made some chicken fajitas for me and Bill, and then I went out for my evening walk (aka Pokemon Go time). I am almost having more fun exploring different neighborhoods around my own and seeing all the cool houses and such. I got so distracted by the promise of a private community water playground that I got way off course and ended up going a little farther than expected.
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 23,000
Calories burned: 3400
Calories consumed: 1600
I had to eat a little extra peanut butter at the end of the night to get my calorie count up there. Not that I'm complaining.
I'm looking forward to rest day tomorrow, and possibly having some time to work on wedding stuff. Or just to catch more Pokemon :)
Until then, readers.

- The room was like 80 degrees and humid. I usually sweat when I lift weights, but this was the disgusting, dripping, I may as well have been outside in the rain kind of sweat.
- I missed BodyPump on Saturday, and I definitely noticed a difference. You wouldn't think that two extra days off would make such an impact, but all the weights felt heavier than usual.

A Brief Wedding Planning Hiatus
Good evening, readers!
Holy hot and muggy. I thought I was about to turn into a puddle on the walk home from work today. This might be kind of gross, but the straps of my backpack got really sweaty on the walk, and then I put my backpack right under the AC vent on the drive home. When I went to take my backpack out of the car, the straps were freezing!
A little sweat never hurt anyone, I suppose. Honestly I hate being sweaty, but there wasn't really much I could do about it today. I'm looking forward to the rain to take a bit of this moisture out of the air!
Alright I'm done with my 80-something woman's rant about the muggy weather. On to more important things, shall we?
Today was a pretty typical day. I got up, drove to my brother's house, and walked to work from there. I took a rather circuitous route today, as I got distracted by my PokemonGo app (shocker). Working on the campus of a public university means lots of opportunity. For Pokemon, I mean. Not for like real-life stuff.
I worked my obligatory 8 hours and then made the trek back home. I stopped at Target for a few groceries, then got home where Bill had some chicken wings waiting for me for dinner. Delicious. And I only had 5, so it kept the calorie count in check. I ate really well today otherwise, so I don't feel guilty at all!
Today's stats:
Steps taken: 16000
Calories burned: 3100
Calories consumed: 1600
Overall those stats look pretty good. There's not going to be any updates from wedding-planning land for a few days, as I honestly just can't talk about it any more. I need to distance myself from it and clear my mind so I can look at everything objectively again. So I am currently on hiatus from wedding talk, but only for a few days.
Off to pack up the gym bag for 5:30am BodyPump (everyone's favorite.)
Until tomorrow, readers.

Weigh In: Week 20
Good evening, readers!
Oh, what another busy day! This morning I got up and went to BodyStep. It was reaaaaaally sweaty today. Afterward I took a quick shower and headed over to Sue and Mike's for Sunday brunch.
Lots and lots of wedding ideas were tossed around today, mainly about decorations. We have a lot of good ideas for how to decorate the church, so I'm not worried about that at all. I'm still toying with a few different ideas for centerpieces, so I'm hoping one of those will pan out in a way that I like.
Bill and I also discussed finalizing our invite list (done!), finding transportation for the wedding party (quotes are coming in!) and how long we will need the photographer (we're still arguing this a little bit. We get 7 hours, but I think we might need 8. We will see once we talk to the photographer.)
Other noteworthy events from today: Our neighbors had a wedding. If you have ever been to our townhouse you know that none of us really have a yard. I'm pretty sure they had this wedding in their garage. It's 9:30 and they currently still have loud music playing along with lots of loud arguing and gesticulating. They also had a bounce house, which they put in the shared green space between their building and ours. So that was fun.
I also had a moment of bravery today. I was coming home from a walk, but the front door was dead-bolted. This means I had to put in the garage code to get into the house. It seems simple, until you run into this:
Okay so it may not look like much in this picture, but I swear that spider was huge! And he was watching me push those buttons the whole time. Probably memorizing the code so he and his family can sneak into our shower later or something. Yes, I pushed the buttons and he didn't move until after I was done. I felt very brave. Bill wasn't home, otherwise I probably would have just whined until he let me in.
And in nerd corner today, I only played a little Pokemon Go. There is a gym pretty close to my house, but I feel like I will never have a Pokemon strong enough to beat the current one there. Can someone explain to me how this works?
Oh, and today was also weigh-in day. Aaaaand... I lost 1.5 lbs! That's a total of 24.5 lbs lost so far!
Not 15, 1.5. I know they look the same. I wish it was the former, but hey, I'll take the latter! I was very excited. I didn't eat terribly this week, but I had a few things I probably shouldn't have.
I have 3 more weigh-in days in July. My goal-let was to lose 7 lbs by the end of the month. That means I basically have to lose 2 lbs per week to reach my goal.
Too bad I celebrated this week's weigh-in success with ice cream at Culver's. Oh well, I can work it off PLUS another two pounds by Saturday!
And that looks to be all the exciting news for tonight.
Until tomorrow, readers.
